The function of farmers markets

It was our second Sunday yesterday at the New Amsterdam market on Front Street right by the South Street Seaport. It was as well attended as usual. We did participate occasionally last year. But this year decided to commit to it weekly. It opens at 11 and goes until 4 PM. We have been so pleased with the response to our product line! I have yet to find another way of getting immediate feedback to our honeys and maple syrup. People are very up front about what they think and we get a chance to educate them on extraction of honey and maple syrup…why ours is different and special, and give them advise on beekeeping. We learn so much at these types of markets, and the connections with all the different people including other vendors are refreshing and useful as well. I am feeling a bit more physically tired today than usually, but I think I’m hooked to the contact with foodies that attend this market…! The fact that all the vendors and consumers have the opportunity to buy and sell great, local products and get to interact with each other is just fantastic…One of the best moments is the reaction of kids to honey or anything bee related…they just light right up and love it! Yup, I love that market.

Here’s a link on how to get there…
